Rules and Etiquette

 Golf Rules

1.  The Rules of Golf of the United States Golf Association (“U.S.G.A”) together with the Rules of Etiquette as adopted by the U.S.G.A. shall be the rules of Hampton Hall Club.

   
   

    All players, especially children and beginning golfers are expected to learn and observe the fundamentals of golf etiquette.
   
   

   “Cutting-in” is not permitted at any time.  All play shall start at #1 tee unless otherwise directed by Golf Shop personnel. Under no circumstances are players permitted to start play from residences.

   
   

   Slow play is not tolerated. In the interest of all, players should play without delay. No player should play until the players in front are safely out of range.

   
   

   Appropriate golf attire is required for all players on the golf course and golf practice facility. Members and designees are expected to ensure that immediate family and guests adhere to such rules. Guests should be reminded of the dress code policy prior to arrival at the Club to avoid embarrassment. Acceptable attire for Gentlemen includes:  Shirts with collars, slacks and golf shorts up to four inches above the knee. Not Acceptable attire for Gentlemen includes: Tank tops, tee shirts, cut-offs, sweat pants, jeans, bathing suits, tennis or other athletic shorts more than four inches above the knee. Acceptable attire for Ladies includes:  Dresses, skirts, slacks, and Golf shorts up to four inches above the knee and golf shirts.Not Acceptable attire for Ladies includes:  Halter tops, tank tops, cut-offs, bathing suits, sweat pants, jeans, or short shorts are not permitted.

          6.     Groups of four (4) players or more are not permitted at any time.

          7.     The Golf Course may not be used for any purpose except golf.

Pace of Play

The official time for an eighteen hole round at Hampton Hall Golf Club will be 4 hours and 12 minutes. Here are a few suggestions to help your group maintain its pace of play:

1. Your group should be at your starting tee at least 5 minutes before your tee time.

2. Play ready golf-defined as doing your pre-shot routine while another is hitting their ball.

3. Keep within 2 shots of the group in front of you.

4. Take two or three clubs with you to your ball to avoid the need to come back to your bag.

5. Size up your putt while another golfer is putting, without disrupting their putt or line.

6. Appoint one person in your group to be the timer for your pace of play.

7. Check your pace with the time printed on the bottom of your scorecard.
